Cherries: Primarily the tart Montmorency variety, which accounts for 95% of Wisconsin's tart cherry production. Historically, the region was called “Cherryland” and once produced 10% of the country’s cherries. Cherry orchards are abundant, with many offering pick-your-own experiences especially during the harvest season (mid-July to mid-August). Cherry products like pies, jams, and wines, are key to the local economy and tourism.

Apples: Apples are also a major crop, and at one time were even more popular than cherries. Numerous orchards offer apple picking during the harvest season (early September to late October). Apple products such as cider, donuts, and pies are popular at local markets and farm stands.
